A Road Trip Through History

Come join us on our first road trip of 2012, set for May 19th and 20th.We are headed to "beautiful downtown Flora, MS". Why Flora, you say? You mean you didn`t know it has the southern most Petrified Forest in the United States located at 124 Forest Park Road, www.mspetrifiedforest.com/ The lady that owns the property is a gemologist and has traveled the world. On the property is a museum of some of the finest specimens of minerals and gem quality stones you will ever see. You can also search through rock piles for precious stones. Oh, I almost forgot. There`s also a gift shop.

From Flora, we will travel west to Vicksburg, MS and stay at the Battlefield Inn.

4137 North Frontage Road, Vicksburg, MS(601) 638-5811, www.battlefieldinnms.com.Make your reservations in the "Corvette Block".

Dinner is planned at Rusty`s Riverfront Grille, 901 Washington Street, Vicksburg, MS,http://www.rustysriverfront.com/ordereze/default.aspx.

On Sunday we will tour the Vicksburg Military Park, http://www.nps.gov/vick/index.htm, highlighting the restored ironclad river gunboat,

U. S. S. Cairo, http://www.nps.gov/vick/historyculture/uss-cairo-gunboat.htm, then head home via the Natchez Trace Parkway, http://www.nps.gov/natr/index.htm.

Remember:All Confederation trips are "y`all comes", so y`all come.
